Like a lot of photographers, my story started with a high school photography class, my folks' old Pentax Asahi K1000, and black and white film. Unlike them, it didn't stick. I didn't continue carrying that old camera around with me, I didn't start shooting anything and everything...hell, I'm not even sure where it is anymore. A few years later, my college roommate bought a Nikon D70, and I decided to get back into it. I bought my own camera and used it...for about 6 months. Then the dust began to gather, and I forgot about photography for almost a decade.
On a whim, I bought a new camera in 2017 after somehow landing on and binge watching hours of landscape photography videos on YouTube. I finally decided to actually learn what I was doing with it and it clicked immediately. Since that time, I've fully immersed myself in the art. I love nothing more than exploring new areas and hunting for compositions, exploring new styles and subjects to push myself out of my comfort zone, and exploring my own creativity. In 2019, my love of taking photos changed and deepened into a love of the history and artistry behind photography. I've since begun shooting large format film and have started exploring alternative and antiquated processes for shooting, developing, and printing.
